A grapefruit diet
The main point of this diet is that you should eat 1-2 grapefruits every day. This citrus has the ability to burn calories. If you are on this diet, you may lose about 3-4 kgs for a week!
Grapefruit is famous for its content of substances that prevent fat accumulation. Therefore this exotic fruit is also popular with “hunters for thinness”. You may eat a grapefruit, for example, for a dessert after meal – the citrus helps burn 50 % of the consumed calories. Grapefruit contains the substance naryngitis (thanks to which this citrus has such bitter taste). It interferes with fat digestion, accelerates metabolism, improves work of bowels and stimulates digestion process; as a result, it leads to losing weight.
Besides, this fruit is vitamin-rich (B, C, Р, D) and minerals (potassium, calcium and others).
Grapefruit diet is intended for 1 week; for this period you may get rid of 3-4 kg. When you eat a grapefruit, remember, that the most useful in it – thanks to what it “works” – is its bitterness that is in transparent film and partitions.
Monday
Breakfast: 50 grams low-fat ham; 1/2 grapefruit; coffee without sugar or green tea with honey.
Dinner: vegetable salad seasoned with 1 tsp. olive oil (also you can take any vegetables, except potatoes); 1/2 grapefruit; coffee without sugar or green tea with honey.
Supper: 100 grams boiled or grilled meat; green salad seasoned with 1 tsp. olive oil; green tea with honey.
Tuesday
Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs; 1/2 grapefruit; green tea with honey or coffee without sugar.
Dinner: 50 grams cheese (20-30 % fat content) or 150 grams low-fat cottage cheese; 1/2 grapefruit.
Supper: 200 grams stewed fish or fish-grill, vegetable salad seasoned with 1 tsp. olive oil; a slice of black bread.
Wednesday
Breakfast: 2 tbsp. oatmeal porridge or muesli, 1 tbsp. raisin, 1 tbsp. ground nuts (except peanuts), filled with fat-free yoghurt or milk; 1/2 grapefruit.
Dinner: cup of vegetable soup or a transparent broth; two dried crusts; 1/2 grapefruit.
Supper: 200 grams hen (grilled or boiled); 2 baked tomatoes; green tea with honey. Before sleeping you should eat half of grapefruit.
Thursday
Breakfast: 1 glass tomato juice; boiled egg; green tea with honey.
Dinner: salad from carrots or other vegetables (celery, salad leaves, broccoli etc.), seasoned with 1 tsp. olive oil; a slice of black bread; 1/2 grapefruit.
Supper: 400 grams boiled or stewed vegetables (cabbage, beet, carrots, celery), except potatoes; green tea with honey. Before sleeping you should eat half of grapefruit or drink grapefruit fresh juice.
Friday
Breakfast: fruit salad (1/2 grapefruit, 1/2 orange, a small apple); coffee without sugar or green tea with honey.
Dinner: 1 big baked potato; salad from cabbage and any other vegetables (you may try dietary salad).
Supper: 200 grams beef stake or 250 grams chicken meat or 250 grams fish; 2 baked tomatoes or tomato juice. Before sleeping – 1/2 grapefruit or fresh juice.
Saturday and Sunday
Choose any of the offered variants of the menu.
Remember the main rule of this diet – do not eat after 7 p.m.! If you want to have a bite during a day, you may have 1 glass kefir or an apple.
NOTE
Grapefruit diet appeared in the 30th of the last century and it was chosen by the Hollywood stars at once. Some time later this diet was forgotten, but in the 70th it has revived again: the Twiggie “fashion” has begun.
And the popular actress Sofi Loren uses this grapefruit diet even now – she keeps to this diet for several days.
ADVICE
Be cautious with grapefruits, as well as other exotic fruits. For people who have stomach peracidity or suffer from any kind of allergy going on a such diet is forbidden!
Grapefruit is recommended to be included in a morning diet: it jazzes you up, takes off weariness, and improves appetite.
If you suffer from cardiovascular diseases, 1 glass of grapefruit juice a day will normalize cholesterol level.
Grapefruits are useful to diabetics. This citrus has a low glycemic index; this enables to lower sugar level in blood in a natural way. If you don’t like the grapefruit bitterness, you may mix grapefruit juice with orange or apricot one.
