Fitness Revolution

Millions of people all around the world now find regular exercises as part of their daily routine. Many of them jog, some cycle or swim, some prefer to do work-outs in gyms, do karate or play in teams. All these people are now the main part of worldwide fitness revolution which has taken part over the last fifty years. You may ask, what is this – fitness revolution? What is its reason? Actually, there are several factors of it:
1. Fit people live longer, they have “healthier” lives than fatties, especially those who also smoke, drink a lot or take drugs. Now these people admit that taking regular exercises can help overcome difficulties, become healthy and stay fit.
2. Nowadays the state of looking attractive and young has become trendy. So, if you fall into this category, you are in! In fashion! Gain popularity and respect by becoming fit and keeping your body and soul young.
3. And finally, another reason for such fitness boom is that more sports is constantly appearing on our TV screens today. So, having a look at these fit, sporty muscular bodies, you are filled with the desire to have the same look. Work-out videos and different fitness programs have made it easier to exercise at home.
But before you start working on your body intensively, please, take into consideration a preparation part. Here are some tips for you.
1) Measure your own fitness level.
The simplest way to do this is to take your pulse.
- put two fingers across your right wrist.
- take a stopwatch.
- relax.
- count the number of beats that you feel in the next fifteen seconds.
- multiply the number of beats by four (4) to get the result of your pulse rate per minute.
- check your answer to the chart here below.
80 or more……….poor
70-79……………..fair
60-69……………..good
50-59……………..very good
under 50…………excellent
2) Start doing some kind of exercises.
Now many talk about aerobic exercises and recommend it as a working method to lose weight and keep fit. So, what is it? It is a physical activity during which your pulse goes up to a minimum of 140 beats per minute for at least 20 minutes. Jogging, swimming, cycling and football are all aerobics. If you want to get good results, doing jogging, swimming or cycling once or twice a month is not enough. To gain a slender figure and improve your heart and lung capacity you need to do aerobics at least three times a week and keep on a healthy diet.
3) Prepare for exercise if you are not used to it.
If you are a beginner, it is very important to make sure that…
… an activity you have chosen best suits your level of fitness.
… you are wearing suitable clothes and shoes.
… you warm up slowly and gradually before you start the activity itself.
4) Your body starts working.
Your heartbeat goes up to 160/170 beats per minute. The amount of blood pressure being pumped by your heart triples. You breathe deeper and three times more often than usual. Extra blood is sent to your muscles. You lose water due to sweating. You feel good because your body releases chemicals called endorphins. But too much exercise can be just as bad for you as too little. Exhaustion and muscle injuries are just two of the possible problems.
5) Fitness advantages.
There are a lot of them. Fitness…
… reduces the risk of heart attack.
… increases strength, stamina and suppleness.
… means that you sleep better and don’t get tired so quickly.
… helps you lose weight and keep it stable.
… makes you feel healthier, happier and more positive.
NOTE! The healthy way of life must become part of your life, but not a burden. Without proper healthy diet you won’t gain quick results with only fitness exercises.
